Proximity…

proximity |präkˈsimətē| noun nearness in space, time, or relationship

I’d heard a lot about this family, before I had met all of them. Mama Ana, is my coworker. She started work at my school this year and we worked side by side. I was so happy to get to know her and excited I could get some much needed advice about being the Mom to a boy. Ana is kind of my hero. A mom to three teenagers, oh gosh it’s even hard writing those words. She’s a mom through and through and has so much love for her children, always brimming with pride about their successes and humorously chatting about their missteps!! She a tough cookie though, does not beat around the bush, but is also so down to earth, adventurous and fun.

I was happy to see a glimpse of these relationships on our recent family photo session. Was so excited to meet Ana’s husband, Omar, (he’s freakin funny) daughter Grace, and sons Ricardo and Omar. All were in good spirits, even though we were up with the sun in San Francisco’s Mission District. We thought we might have to compete with Carnival, happening that weekend, but like I said we were early birds. The kids have a great sibling relationship with each other. You could tell they were close, Grace very much looked up to her older brothers, and Omar and Ricardo, challenged and teased each other like brothers do. It’s not very often I meet such a tight knit family. I know this session was done, before big bro Ricardo headed back to college for summer baseball, so it meant a lot to Mom. Proximity to her children is something she longs for. Ana, I hope these memories put a smile on your face today, tomorrow, and so on and so on!

sfggp004

wingman |ˈwiNGˌmən| n. a man who helps or supports another man; a friend or close associate I was painfully shy as a kid. Painfully! I found it hard to make friends, was always the quiet one, hated small talk, and was anxious if I ever had to lead or carry on a conversation. Shyness, honestly there weren’t to many perks […]

…Sea

sea noun the expanse of salt water that covers most of the earth’s surface and surrounds its landmasses. Why are we so mesmerized by ginormous fish tanks? Why do people young and old, stop dead in their tracks to stare longingly at ocean life. I think it’s because the ocean is so vast, so beautiful, […]

…Ease

ease |ēz| noun absence of difficulty or effort I’d love to say that each session I do starts out immediately with an absence of difficulty or effort, but that would be a lie. It always, as it should, takes a few setups to ease into picture taking. It’s unnatural for most people. So, as the photographer it is my […]
