…Bella

Bella noun beloved dog on ranch in Montana

I never had a pet growing up, was a mom to a labrador dog for a short time in my twenties, had roommates with pets, but not much else. Most of my long term friends will tell you that I am pretty petrified of animals, dogs especially. I don’t know why, I don’t remember a bad experience with one, they have just always scared me. Id say as I’ve gotten older the fear has subsided a little, but I am still a bit trepidatious. My son on the other hand is a animal lover. From the get go he loved being around cats, dogs, birds, chickens, horses, you name it. It is very sweet to see. He’s actually helped me like animals a bit better. On our recent trip to Montana he fell in love with one of the ranch dogs named Bella, an awesome black labrador! We’d get up in the morning, walk outside and he’d immediately ask where Bella was. He loved hugging her, rubbing her belly and scratching her ears. My favorite moments between the two of them was when we’d make the walk from our cottage to the main house. I’m assuming it was my sons smell or just the training he had as a ranch dog, but when we did make that walk, Bella would walk with my son. They would walk parallel to each other. It was as if Bella was protecting him. It was like they had a special connection and I loved watching it. I’m not sure a dog is in his future, but it might be nice. We’ve since made it back home and the first night he went to sleep amongst all of his stuffed animals, he found his black dog and said, “goodnight Bella.” I died!
